Artist Work

Experimental paintings and graphics constitute the main emphasis of Mirjana Stein-Arsic’s artwork.
Her paintings and graphics are expressive in colour and form, translucent and vary in nuances and tones. The transitions can be either intense or very fine. Combinations of colours and lines continuously blend into each other and constantly create new impressions. A silent dialogue is initiated with every newly coloured surface and every newly drawn line. Like in a movie, images are strung together, by that continuously change the composition of the painting or the graphic. It is this kind of evolution and progression that renders the creative process a stimulating and exciting experience.
In recent years, her interest turned to our environment as she started experimenting with everyday subjects in her graphical work which range from established printing techniques to lino- and relief printing, gravure, etching and chine collé.

Curriculum

Born in Belgrade in 1943; undergraduate studies in Technical Physics at the University of Belgrade; PhD at the RWTH Aachen; research fellow at the Research Centre in Jülich;
1980-1981 studies in „Free graphics“ at the Academy of Fine Arts in Düsseldorf;
since 1978 member of „Kunstverein Jülich“;
since 2004 member of the Euregional Association “dreieck.triangle.driehoek e.v.” professional female artists in the region around the country-triangle Belgium-Germany-Netherlands;
since 2014 member of BBK Euregio Aachen e.v., Federal Association of Visual Artists, Germany;

member in „Kulturwerk Aachen“ and „Künstler Forum Schloss Zweibrüggen“;

since 1977 participant in national and international exhibitions (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Serbia, Romania and USA).
